BECOMING A MEMBER OF LITIBU ECOVILLAGE
In 2018-2019 as members were transitioning out of the Litibu Community, a team worked for a year redefining our role as an Intentional community and putting detailed form on how to become a member.
As an entity, Litibu is an LLC in the state of Nevada which owns all the property including structures and commons. Any changes in memberships must be vetted through a membership process and accepted by 2/3 membership vote.
Here is a summary of what we see the role of Litibu Ecovillage to be and the process to membership. These are guidelines. We recognize each individual process has its own journey.

Two-hour site visit or a zoom call. Shared FAQ and any requested documents. Are we a match to continue?
Participate in the community by staying for one week and being part of all events and activities.
Participate in the January year-planning meeti
Live in the community with us for 3-6 months to see if we are a fit. During this time participate in all community events such as weekly check in meetings, celebrations, monthly potlucks, and join a team such as gardening, maintenance, membership growth, community outreach.
Write a letter requesting to become a member IF a membership is available. Negotiate price with casa guardian. Membership team shares letter, with all members does an interview, and makes a suggestion of agreement on membership.
All members meet in January meeting or via zoom and discuss the request.
A 2/3 vote of all the members must approve the new membership.
Who we are looking for:
Families/younger generations
Movement toward speaking Spanish, (dual language skills)
Those who can make Litibu their home base OR
Have means to keep casas inhabited more than six months out of the year.
Those who have community experience or skills
Those who have finances. Purchase membership, maintain casa, pay yearly dues
Members of local/hispanic origin
We consider living in community very similar to a marriage. The process of membership is like a courtship, an engagement and a commitment for living life.
