IN 1990 EIGHTEEN SOCIAL PIONEERS INITIATED A COMMUNITY ON PLAYA LITIBÙ IN NAYARIT MEXICO, TWO KILOMETERS FROM THE VILLAGE OF HIGUERA BLANCA….

You can find us listed on the Global Eco-village Network and the Foundation for Intentional Communities. We consider ourselves a living laboratory, pioneering innovative solutions towards living with low impact and high-quality lives.

Bound together by a common vision to live ecologically, our electricity is produced by solar panels with the surplus going to the grid. We collect rainwater off our roofs to store in cisterns, and we have a common blackwater system.  Grey water systems support casa gardens and composting revitalizes our homes and food forest.

Common areas are linked by stone pathways leading to Casas, the Food Forest and a Peace  Garden (Paz Jardin) where yoga and meditation are available during part of the year.

Presently we have both part-time and residential members.  Part-time members participate virtually when absent.  We are interested in moving the community toward those committed to making Litibu their home.
