LIVING IN
INTENTIONAL COMMUNITY
Community life can be compared to a marriage. It is full of the challenges and joys of close familiar living. Our particular community has independent housing and we gather primarily for teamwork, planning meetings, monthly meals and celebrations. Our teams support and cooperate to manifest our vision of demonstrating viable living into the future.

Currently our priorities are:
MULTlGENERATIONAL: We are creating processes for elder care, child care and to meet evolving family needs.
CONSENSUS: We practice consensus building in our January year planning and in teamwork. We gather as a community weekly on site and once a month on zoom.
SURROUNDING COMMUNITY: We work with the wider community, the village of Higuera Blanca and other neighbors to ensure safe, future-oriented choices in this area of Mexico. We connect with the local indigenous cultures to widen our own understanding of care for the planet and ourselves.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING: We strive to have educational opportunities for our members and the community in topics like permaculture, local youth leadership, mindfulness, conflict resolution. Yoga, or use of gardening tools.
LANGUAGE: We focus on language skills and provide translation for all meetings.
WILDLIFE: We support turtle sanctuary teams and local ecological initiatives such as beach cleaning with the local schools.
SAFETY: We routinely evaluate our physical needs, access to medical care, surrounding local concerns.
CELEBRATIONS: We often have pot lucks, events on the beach or in the Peace Garden, talent shows, traditional ceremonies, holiday remembrances, and family occasions
We’d love to get fresh ideas for a grounded demonstration of possibility in Mexico. Come help us build that future.
